My name is Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, a Qatari hardware and software engineer and entrepreneur from the beautiful city of Doha. I graduated from Oregon State University, U.S.A. with Cum Laude honor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with Computer Science minor.
I program in more than ten different languages, and contribute regularly to open source projects. I believe that I wouldn’t have reached the level that I’m at currently, if it wasn’t for Allah’s blessing and then the open source community. I owe the open source community tremendously, that I devoted most of my personal projects to the open source community.
Leading Thakaa to produce its first product, Sajdah, which is a smart education prayer rug, to teach new Muslims and children the second most important pillar of Islam.
Overseeing Qatar Scientific Club's main activities and working with the Executive Director to ensure we set and meet the club's KPIs.
Managing a team of engineers specialized in electrical, electronics, mechanical, and software. I was heading the committee that is reponsible for the hackathon competition of Doha Oasis for Innovation, where more than 50 innovators competed against each other to launch a startup in 48 hours. Under my leadership, we organized STEM based Summer Camp 2019 at Qatar Scientific Club, where we designed curriculum, and STEM kits, which made entirely locally at the club.
Managed a team of designers and programmers to deliver projects for the club members. I helped reduce the operation cost of IT by %40 while improving the services at the same time. I improved the website’s security and speed by utilizing SSL certificates, DNS and static file caching, CDN delivery network, Re-coding the website’s theme using Bootstrap CSS, and minifying JS and CSS static files.
Designed electrical circuit boards that control the system and stabilize the temperature. I also designed and programmed the firmware for the embedded microprocessor. Furthermore, I integrated the system with iOS mobile app so it can be controlled and monitored using the mobile app.
Led a team to a successful 3GPP Release 4 upgrade to the GSM core network architecture. I managed Vodafone-Ooredoo interconnectivity project that was implemented using STM links. I also managed mobile number portability project between ictQatar, Vodafone, and Ooredoo. Furthermore, held the responsibility of operating and maintaining switches serving two million subscribers.
